Membership ranges from independent “mom and pop” retailers to large national retail chains. The retail industry's contributions to the Commonwealth include $90 billion in annual sales; $4 billion in annual sales and meals taxes; 18% of Massachusetts jobs; and operation in at least 40,000 locations across the state.
RAM currently serves its membership in a number of different ways. Constantly promoting the retail industry to all aspects of state government, RAM serves as an important voice in all legislative and regulatory affairs dealing with issues impacting the retail industry. From legislation regarding the high cost of health insurance for small businesses to technical information releases from the department of revenue about the sales tax holiday, RAM is there to make sure that the best interests of the industry are protected. Great care is also taken to ensure that members are informed about any potential impacts to their businesses in a clear and timely manner.
Another way that RAM serves its members is by partnering with service providers to offer exclusive discounts; discounts associated with membership range from workers compensation insurance to credit card processing. RAM negotiates competitive discounts on services that that impact the bottom line of retail businesses because we understand the high costs associated with your business. That is why RAM is continuously looking for ways to improve current discounts and expand our service provider network. | | |
