DOG FOOD SOLD IN BAY STATE RECALLED
August 27, 2007

Potential salmonella contamination prompted federal regulators on Sunday to announce a Tennessee-based company has voluntarily recalled five-pound bags of dog food sold in several states, including Massachusetts.  Food and Drug Administration tests on 150 samples revealed one positive sample from Krasdale Gravy dry food, distributed by Mars Petcare US to stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.  The bags contain the following UPC code: 7513062596.  According to the FDA, salmonella can be transferred to people handling pet food, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the product or any surfaces exposed to the product.
