ITEM PRICING REFORM Print

Beacon Hill Update

Support Item Pricing Reform!

The battle for food item pricing has begun. Although movement in the Legislature isn't expected until early 2008, the campaigning has already started. Unions are currently flooding the State House with messages in opposition to this important reform.

Currently the law requires grocery products to be priced individually with few exceptions. We seek reform that would replace individual price tags with clear conspicuous signage and in-aisle self-scanners with printers. Pricing accuracy would improve and workers who currently spend hours applying and reapplying price tags could move to more productive & service-oriented positions.

Massachusetts is one of two states that still maintain this antiquated and costly requirement. The reform of these regulations is long overdue. Please take the time to contact your representatives and give them the support they need to reform item pricing regulations.

Now is the time to voice your support of item pricing reform. Contact your legislator now!
