The primary benefits of the wellness program include increased individual health, proper health care utilization and a reduction in cost of care.

Improved Health

The RAM Wellness Program is designed to help participants identify their personal health risks and then define and achieve health goals custom tailored to reducing those risks. Whether the participant is looking for assistance with dieting and weight loss, smoking cessation, stress reduction, or cardio and strength training, the wide array of content included in this comprehensive program provides the tools necessary for anyone to improve their health.

Proper Utilization

While increased health serves to reduce utilization, it is equally important for individuals to make informed decisions when utilizing health care. The RAM Wellness Program’s educational content includes materials that allow participants to become better consumers by learning more about their health care options. Information regarding health insurance coverage options, preventative care as well as proper settings for obtaining health care services, arms participants with the knowledge needed to positively impact their utilization of health care.

Reduction in Cost of Care

For all wellness participants, living a healthier life and making wiser health care decisions directly results in a reduction in out of pocket health care expenses for office visits, prescriptions and procedures, etc.

Benefits for RAM Employers

It is not just employees that benefit from wellness participation but employers as well. Increased employee health results in a healthier and more productive workforce, reduces absenteeism, and lowers costly health and workers compensation insurance claims.

Benefits for RAM Cooperative Members

In addition, for those employers participating in the RAM Health Insurance Cooperative, cost savings may also be realized in the form of reduced health insurance premium rates. This benefit, which until now has been reserved for large employers, is being made available to our small retail employers who have joined the Cooperative. The reduction of health risks resulting from the creation of a healthier, more educated population within the Cooperative allows RAM to pursue a reduction in premiums when negotiating with insurance carriers to obtain coverage for the Cooperative.
